I attended the Long Beach Pet Expo on Saturday. As I first went into the building I met my cousin and an old friend I haven’t seen in some time. They said they thought I would be there. There were a lot of dogs both pets and dogs up for adoption. Two of my favorite local dog adoption groups were at the pet expo. You ask what are these two adoption groups? Well West side German Shepherd Rescue and German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County of course.
I saw a few demonstrations in a little doggy demonstration area and a TV celebrity from the Pit Boss was there as well. I also heard a few people talking about and giving general dog advice on the presentation stage.
Overall the show was not real big, but it was enjoyable. There were a lot of people selling products and services. I would classify it as a medium sized show. I am sure it will grow over the years.
I was listening to a dog trainer talk about his training style and I had a new insight into why I don’t like the term positive dog training. He is not what I think of when I hear the term positive dog trainer. Nor do I believe the general public thinks of his style of training as positive. Maybe there’s more than one thing I discovered about why I don’t like the term positive dog training. One strike against the term is it has created a propaganda war within the dog training industry. I hope to write about my this new insight on my dog training website OCDogTraining.com
I had a nice chat with a rescue lady and several of the venders. I hope to review at least one of the new products I saw at the show in the near future.
One of the more unusual products was a pet oxygen mask. I did not get a chance to talk with these people, but it looked interesting.
